Does your home need new windows and you are just starting to shop around? Here are some questions that you want to ask when picking a window dealer.

Do You Need To Make A Decision That Same Day?

There is a lot you can tell about a window dealer by asking them if you need to make a decision the day that they come out to your home to give you an estimate. This is because a respectable window dealer is going to allow you to collect your estimates, think about which company you want to go with, and then call them back at a later date.

Be wary of any company that makes you an offer and says that it is only good if you decide to go with them that same day. It's better to get a good idea of all your options and make the decision in your own time.

What Are The Fees For Financing Options?

Some window dealers will offer you great financing options so that you can slowly pay the windows off over time. However, know that there is usually a true cost of interest-free financing, where the fees are typically built into the price of the window. It is worth asking what those hidden fees are from using a financing option that seems too good to be true, and if there is a benefit to paying for the windows all at once in cash.

Who Is Installing The Windows?

You'll always want to know who will be doing the actual installation for your windows. Some window dealers have employees that only work for that specific window dealer, and they install all the windows that they sell. Other window dealers subcontract the work to other companies to actually perform the installation, with the dealer simply making the sale.

While one method is not necessarily better than the other, it's important to know who is performing the work. If it's a subcontractor, ask for the name of the subcontracted company so that you can look into their reviews.

How Does The Warranty Work?

Windows typically come with a warranty, and you'll want to know how that warranty works. Is it on the materials and the labor involved to replace a window? Does the warranty cover the damage caused by leaking water as well? You don't want to be caught off guard when it comes time to use a window warranty.
